Working group rapporteurs will present key outcomes from four working groups.

Speakers:

Professor David Farrell is the outgoing head of Politics and International Relations at UCD. A specialist in the study or political parties, elections and the politics of representation, he is founding editor of the major international journal, Party Politics.  His current work focuses on political reform and the politics of deliberation. In 2011 he was the academic director of We the Citizens, a major national initiative funded by Atlantic Philanthropies. He is currently the research director of the Irish Constitutional Convention. @dfarrell_ucd

John Handelaar is a web application developer and former radio journalist who lives in Cork. He opened KildareStreet.com, which publishes searchable transcripts of the Dáil and Seanad, in 2009. FixMyStreet.ie followed in 2012, and more apps in a similar vein are planned. Long ago he was at the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament in London and he helped organise the largest ever public demonstration in the UK in 2003. One of his email addresses is so old that it pre-dates the fall of communism. @handelaar  @KildareStreet

Paul Maassen is the independent civil society coordinator for the Open Government Partnership. His role is to support in-depth civil society engagement with the OGP in all member countries. He previously worked as Head of Finance and Partnerships for WWF International’s Global Climate & Energy Initiative and with Dutch development organisation Hivos as programme manager for the ICT & Media programme. He was involved in the establishment of the East African citizen agency initiative Twaweza, and attained private sector experience with Dutch telcom company KPN. @maassenpaul

Denis Parfenov is the Founder and Director of ActiveCitizen, a grassroots, politically neutral, non-profit community initiative which builds bridges between citizens and their governments through open–source technology tools, communications and advocacy. Denis is the Open Knowledge Foundation Ambassador for Ireland, who leads Open Data Ireland Community. Denis initiated (Sept. 2011), managed and successfully executed civic campaign which resulted in a commitment of the Irish government to participating in the Open Government Partnership (20 May 2013). @ActiveCitizen_

Gavin Sheridan is a blogger and journalist from Cork. He specialises in access to information and data journalism. He co-founded thestory.ie in 2009, a blog dedicated to obtaining and publishing government data. He writes freelance for newspapers such as The Sunday Times and Sunday Independent. He has taken several successful Information Commissioner appeals under both FOI and Access to Information on the Environment (AIE) regulations. @gavinsblog
